UNESCO has included the production of wooden toys from Hrvatsko Zagorje on the list of non-material cultural heritage. The toys depict motifs from the largest Croatian Marian shrine in Marija Bistrica. The wooden toys are among the seven Croatian landmarks recognised by UNESCO.

The UNESCO list currently includes the Festival of St Blaise, lacemaking in Lepoglava and on the islands of Hvar and Pag, the bell ringers from Kastav, the Hvar procession “Following the Cross” (‘Za križem’), two-part singing and playing in the Istrian scale, the Spring procession of Ljelje - Kraljice (Queens) and the production of wooden toys.
