Cycling circular tour „By bike from Marija Bistrica to Gornja Stubica“ - half-day program

 

We will start the ride by gentle climbing on Hum Bistrički and Gusakovec, where we will see the ethno village “Sinković “.
We will see traditional old houses and old agricultural tools. We will reach the restaurant “Lojzekova Hiža”, which is located in a typical local traditional house on the edge of the forest. After the rest, we will continue the ride to the hill “Samci” , where we will visit the Monument of peasant revolt.

There we will tell you the story of the 16th century peasant rebellion and their leader, Matija Gubec. We will visit the castle “Golubovec” and tell the story of its owner Maximilian Vrhovec, the 18th century bishop. We will visit the birth house of Matija Gubec.

We will descend to the church in Gornja Stubica, where is the Gupčeva Lipa, a linden tree that is more than 450 years old. In the center of Gornja Stubica we will look at the MIG 21, a monument to Croatian pilot Rudolf Perešin, a hero of the Homeland war 1991-95.

We are following a long climb through village Sveti Matej on Laz Bistrički, the highest point of our route. We’re going to go back to Marija Bistrica, a 6-kilometer-long downhill.


The programme includes: - cycling guidance, use of bicycle helmet and backpacks with a bottle of water
The programme does not include: - bike rental, meal during performance, tickets or other additional facilities

 


The program is running for at least two people.


The program requires sports shoes.
The programme is very difficult and technically undemanding for up to 6 hours.
The distance is 40 km with a total ascent of 680 m.
